The Korean Peninsula is located in North-East Asia. It is bordered by the Amnok River (Yalu River) to the northwest, separating Korea from China, and the Duman River (Tumen River) to the northeast which separates Korea from both China and Russia. Following its miraculous development over the last 50 years, Korea is now a modernized vibrant nation that still maintains its traditional culture.
Hunting had already been common since prehistoric times and was often expressed in pictures. In the West, hunting scenes were painted in caves during the Old Stone Age. Goguryeo tomb wall paintings expressed the real meaning of horseback hunting. In Goguryeo, which emphasized military affairs, hunting was very important, as in the dramatic scene.
Paljundo were drawings to praise the achievements of King Taejo Lee, Seong-gye who founded the Joseon Dynasty. Joseon is a Korean dynastic kingdom that lasted for approximately five centuries from 1392 to 1897.
